The cooperative

The cooperative Camp Foment Maialenc-S.C.C.L. is a century-old organisation, rooted to the territory and testimony to a culture and way of life that views land as a legacy to care for and pass on to future generations. It was founded on 5 May 1917 at the initiative of some spirited farmers guided by the stewardship and conferences of Eliseo Salis Musté (then a schoolteacher in the town of Maials), with the aim of commercialising olive oil, the town’s main product. Thus, in 1919, the first oil mill was bought, the starting point for the organisation’s constant growth with new sections and services. The effort of the following generations has nurtured that first seed into a tree which has branched out and strengthened its roots until becoming the great cooperative it is today, a modern and structured cooperative which covers its members in all senses.
